Iron Chef's base of operations is located at:
Univ. California at Santa Cruz, the home of the Iron Chef
N 36*59.901 W 122*03.230 (WGS-84).
I now have 21 geocaches placed with a few more in the works. The 21 caches can be accessed though the
menu on the left. In addition to the web page at Geocaching.com I have also made my own web page for my caches that I call their ICGP.
Since my base of ops is in Santa Cruz, most of my caches are
in Santa Cruz County or there abouts. To mark my own waypoints I have my own little system that I will explain here. Take for example the waypoint and geocache name below.
The G stands for Geocache waypoint. The NX just because it is in the planning stages and may not get placed due to one reason or another. The L factor is the location region.
Location Regions:
L - Major Cities (region, state)
0 - Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Watsonville, Monterey, San Luis Obispo (Central Coast, CA)
1 - San Diego, LA, Santa Barbara (San Diego County and Southern California, CA)
2 - San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento (Bay Area, CA)
3 - Yosemite Village, Merced, Fresno (Sierras and Death Valley, CA)
4 - Eureka, Mendecino, Fort Bragg, Napa Valley (Northern California, CA)
5 - Wherever my adventures take me
The ## is the number of the cache within its respective zone. 01 means that it was the first location that I considered placing a geocache at. Although I number these locations as I go
along you may have noticed that I don't necessarily release my geocaches in order. There are a few reasons for this. The first and main one being that I can't afford to place all the
geocaches that I would like to and so I pick and choose those that I think other people would like the most. Also some of these locations arn't suitable for traditional geocaches at all and so they
become a part of a puzzle multi-cache or a virtual cache as I continue to place them.
So that is what I do in a nutshell when it comes to placing a geocache. As always feel free to e-mail me and
I will answer any questions that you have. Enjoy!
27 August 2001 - After a few months of being a geocacher, I am very involved and excited about
geocaching as a whole. This site is beginning to look a bit like my room.... very scattered. So in an attempt to streamline stuff (and make my life easier), I'm going to start my journalizing
my geocaching adventures over at www.xenga.com because I feel like it and I think that they have a premium service. So make sure to check the new Journal of the Iron Chef at www.xenga.com/Iron_Chef/
